Rolling up your sleeves - how to do it right?

Rolling up your sleeves - how to do it right?

High temperatures, intense sunlight - we are all hoping for a warm and bright summer! This is the time when rolled-up sleeves on men's shirts become the ultimate styling choice. Why is that? The long sleeve shirt is always considered elegant and the only right choice in formal business settings. However, when the hot weather gets to us, we can roll up the sleeves. This will always be a better option than a short-sleeved, typically casual shirt.

Rolling up the sleeves adds a casual touch to a style, so it works particularly well in less formal situations. The question is - how should you roll up your sleeves?

There are several ways to do it. We give you the most universal ones.

Classic Roll

Step 1: Start by completely undoing the cuffs and any sleeve buttons. This will allow the fabric to move freely.

Step 2: Fold the sleeve over the width of the cuff so that the cuff is on the inside of the sleeve.

Step 3: Fold the sleeve again to the width of the cuff, making sure the fold line is even. Make sure the fabric is not too tight to maintain comfort.

Step 4: If necessary, make small adjustments to ensure the pleats are even and comfortable. Repeat these steps for the other sleeve.

Italian (Casual Roll)

Step 1: As with the classic roll-up, start by undoing all the buttons on the cuffs.

Step 2: Roll up the sleeve to the width of the cuff, but this time leave the cuff out.

Step 3: Make a second roll-up, leaving the cuff on but allowing part of the sleeve to stick out under the cuff. This gives a looser, more casual look.

Step 4: Adjust the sleeve so that it looks symmetrical and not too tight. Repeat these steps for the other sleeve.

Military Roll

Step 1: Start by completely undoing the cuffs and any extra buttons on the sleeves.

Step 2: Fold the sleeve to the width of the cuff and then back again so that the cuff is on the inside of the sleeve.

Step 3: Continue to roll up the sleeve, keeping each fold the same width, until you reach the desired length. This method gives a neater, tidier look.

Step 4: Check that the pleats are even and comfortable. Adjust if necessary and repeat for the second sleeve.

Additional Tips

  • The fabric of the shirt: Men's linen shirts are ideal for rolling up your sleeves as the material is light and airy. See how many fantastic linens we have to offer in our creator.
  • Fit: Make sure the shirt fits your body properly. A shirt that is too loose can make rolled up sleeves look sloppy.
  • Symmetry: Try to keep both sleeves rolled up to the same length, this will give a neat overall look.

We hope that from now on you will find that rolling up your sleeves is a simple and effective technique that can transform the look of all your shirts and styles.
